PROOF THAT THE PLAYBOOK WORKS
We created Treasure of the Mummy to demonstrate that the Virtual Filmmaker's Playbook process actually works. The film was shot entirely in a 2x4 meter spare bedroom by a crew of 3, and was put together using only the tools and techniques covered in the Playbook. We hope you have as much fun watching it as we had making it!

An iPhone 13 and above is required to take advantage of the Jetset Cine app for camera tracking. The iPhone must be a "Pro" version because the app partly utilizes the LiDAR scanner on the phone for tracking.
It is not required to use an iPhone for this course, as we are providing alternatives such as matchmoving in Blender - however it is STRONGLY recommended, as it will save you a significant amount of time and headache, and provide other benefits like the ability to view a live composite of your real and virtual sets during shooting.
We recommend using some sort of "cinema" camera for this course in order to take full advantage of the Jetset Cine app, provide a cleaner image to pull a key from, and ensure your film is captured at the highest quality possible.
This could be a DSLR, mirrorless camera (which we use in the course), or a higher end cinema camera. If you don't have one, you can still utilize this process with an iPhone camera, but your results will not be to the same level as what we've demonstrated in our examples. Even some of the cheapest mirrorless cameras these days will do the job!
GREENSCREEN/STUDIO SPACE
You don't need a fancy greenscreen for this course! A piece of green fabric will do - you just need a solid colored surface that can be lit evenly, doesn't have too much texture, and isn't too reflective (reflections and bumps or ridges will make keying more difficult). As we demonstrate in this course, you don't need a large space or a fancy studio to get great results! You can do this in your spare bedroom, just like we did!
We recommend using artificial lighting for this course, because matching the light between your virtual environment and physical set is extremely important for a convincing composite. It is also important to light your greenscreen to ensure it's evenly lit. There are plenty of cheap RGB LED lights that will work great for this process - and if you're shooting in a small space, they don't need to be super powerful!
